Who Are We?
About
Black Girls Talk was founded as a high school club in 2018 by Ymorah Blakeney. At the time, BGT served as a safe space for the Black female students, staff and faculty at her school to discuss societal and cultural issues impacting them. In 2021, Black Girls Talk became an official social enterprise! We have expanded our programming to include a guest speaker series and host events to celebrate and uplift other young Black women.
Mission
Our mission is for the young women who participate in our programming to walk away with networking skills, a safe space to discuss the issues impacting, and feel like they have a community of sisters they can depend on. We seek to provide them with resources and services so they can step into the world confidently and boldly as a young Black woman
Vision
Our vision is to open Black Girls Talk chapters in major cities across the United States. We want to build a nationwide network of young Black women seeking to uplift, support, and mentor one another and future generations. Our goal is to encourage dialogue about the issues we discuss through offering workshops and discussions for schools and companies.
